Reimagining the LBD

In the late 70s punk rock took black back into vogue. British designer Vivienne Westwood’s shop on London’s Kings Road sold a skintight latex little black dress, however it was reimagined for the times

As fashion was changing in the 1980s, Princess Diana showcased the style when she stepped out in a low-cut ball gown for her first public appearance with Prince Charles in 1981. She was seen time and time again in black.
And the dress made a resurgence again when Diana wore the ‘revenge dress’ in 1994 after her divorce from then Prince Charles

1994 was also the year Elizabeth Hurley appeared in a Versace safety pin dress on the arm of Hugh Grant for the premiere of the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. It could be said that the Versace dress Elizabeth Hurley wore made more headlines than the movie. It introduced her to the world and set the stage for her career.
