“A little black dress is essential to a woman’s wardrobe,” declared Christian Dior

After World War II, it was Christian Dior who debuted his collection in 1947 that was dubbed the New Look.  Gone were the austere and one could say drab clothes that women wore during the war. Dior ushered in a period of full skirts with short jackets, his little black dress was among these new designs.
