Givenchy designs LBD - Breakfast at Tiffany's
Designed exclusively for Audrey Hepburn by her favorite designer, Hubert de Givenchy, his vision was inspired by Chanel’s classic design with a modern flair. All the other costumes for the film were designed by Edith Head who won an Oscar for her efforts, but it was Givenchy’s design that really stole the show. Givenchy designed the dress to be shorter than it appeared in the film, but the film’s studio, Paramount, thought it showed too much of Audrey’s leg, so the lower half of the dress was redesigned by Edith Head. The original, shorter, dress, which was never worn in the film, resides at the house of Givenchy archives
