Renew Old Collection

Raf Simons arrives at Dior as an established menswear designer but is invested in learning the creative legacy of Dior’s haute couture through the archive of materials and sketches.

The shot of Simons looking at a dress framed between the dress and the arm of the model - suggests the pressure that he is under, only given eight weeks to create a collection for the next show. At this point, the viewer can infer that this story is told from Simons’ point of view and centers around his relationship with Dior, the designer, and the brand.

Now, Simons is the “I” in “Dior and I”.

He tested and played with different ideas using dresses from DIOR’s first collections, aiming to modernize the original dresses to fit the women of today.

His wish to have the models wear comfortable shoes during the show also complies with Dior’s passion for women and his ability to understand their needs and desires.
